A barren tree as a throne
A majestic eagle sits alone
Surveying his vast domain
He sees the sun-baked fields;
the shimmering distant hills
Like a python snake across the plains
As the morning sun climbs high
The pageantry of life goes by
Then subsides in the heat of day
Only the falcon dares to fly
On his speed he relies
As he challenges the Eagle’s reign
Drowsy from the crickets’ lullaby
Wrapped in the warmth of the sky
The Eagle ignores his aerial display
His daring finally spent
The Falcon’s folly comes to an end
He retreats from the heat of the day
Braving the midday sun
In the valley a field mouse runs
Hoping to catch his mealtime prey
Though drowsy, the Eagle spies
The mouse, with his piercing eyes
In a flash he flies away

Speaking exactly what I’ve been living, breathing and feeling. I have seen an egale fly over my head and this poem speaks how I felt while it happened. As I felt the Egale take its flight as my own. As well just today a Heron made its way to meet me on the same ground and stand so firm, tall and still. Then as I got near it flew away only to fly back in front of me.
Wow! Thank you so much for the constant clarification! C: xoxo
