The following is an insight that Almine shared after she received an email during the Ohio retreat, this past July. It is not an easy one, but in the large perspective of going into a Life of No Opposites, Almine’s sharing becomes more understandable. We hope this will give you perspective and insight.
Q. What typically does or can happen to someone who commits suicide? What state or realm do they go to when they kill themselves and what do they experience?
A. Those who commit suicide pass into the soul world. They may go through a period of rest and recuperation after leaving the physical world, especially if their death was traumatic. (This is the same place that we go during sleep which is why we can sometimes connect with those who have left the physical world.) All death is suicide in that we ‘die’ a little at a time (and death is an illusion).
Other insights from the retreat:
- Hard won insights must be released as fluidly as anything else. If our experience has been one of suffering, we tend to want to hold onto it as a ‘badge of courage’ that validates us; our experience then tends to become our identity.
- We are standing at the doorway where knowledge must yield to experiential knowledge as only a doorway to look through. Knowledge is not a ‘fact’, it is a portal, like the end of a thread we can follow. It cannot be accumulated, it can only bring us to the indescribable that lies beyond it. We can never possess it, but only follow where it leads.
