Part 2 of Cris’s interview with Almine. You can read part 1 here.
What are the core illusions?
Almine: “The core illusion is ‘I am that’ and ‘I am not that’. Question and answers are the first polarity. Questions and answers create space. The first question was ‘What am I?’ This in turn creates mirrors of that which we are not.”
What is the role of opposites?
Almine: “The need for an opposite comes from our attempt to understand ‘What am I?’ To find out ‘What am I’, we had to contrive what we are not, thus mirrors came into being. Mirrors only show us what we are not. We will therefore only see our ‘seeming unwholeness’, which we try to fill by supplementing it and hence companionship is sought. Whenever we see lack, something ‘lost’, we are looking into a mirror, for only there can we see that which is not.”
