After posting the Song of the West earlier this week, this time up we will share the Song of the East. With these Songs of the Directions you can get a feel for the archtypical directions and the role they play in existence – in yourself. Enjoy!
Song of the East
From the East where the eagle flies
Where life stirs as the morning sun rises
Across the ocean, a golden path lies
Where the new day tip-toes over the horizon
As dawn breaks across eastern skies
The night owl yields to sparrows’ flight
The slithering serpent basks in the light
After hunting mice crevices of night
Flower petals unfurl in the sun’s first rays
Dewdrops glisten at the break of day
Drowsy children with sleep-flushed cheeks
Stir and rise from forgotten dreams
A new day of promise, to explore and play
With greedy fingers, reach for the day
Where green grass grows and a little stream flows
That chatters and laughs as across the meadow it goes
In my heart deep passion stretches and awakes
Excitement stirs at the unknown that awaits
In the dew, small footsteps in the grass
Where, unseen, an opossum did pass
A pearl-strung spider web, newly spun
Trembles and shivers in the morning sun
A chance encounter, a stranger’s smile
A sudden insight that uplifts and inspires
New beginnings, aflame in my heart
The edge of dawning’s, the East imparts
Where passion stirs like fire in my blood
Where possibilities arise and new vision floods
