Question:
You have stressed valuing your career and job quite a lot. But because of the millions of recent job resignations, so many places of employment are looking for employees. Why are you advocating hanging on to one’s job? I have a young teenager who is a graduating student and I’m unsure how to encourage their enthusiasm for a job.
The Seer:
First of all, I work passionately and joyfully in my calling of being a homemaker. I have only one rule for a family member living in our home: Either contribute to others through a paid job or as a full-time volunteer, be a student, or be learning a new skill. It would be energy-draining to all concerned for a non-contributor to live in our home. I am rather passionate about saving and thoughtful money management. The currency of the universe is energy. One learns to manage energy by learning to manage money.
Now back to the job markets at large: The millions of resignations are exactly why one should value one’s employment. Many industries large and small, will be forced to close down due to inflation and lack of employees. This will create skyrocketing unemployment – a very good reason to make oneself an indispensable employee. Besides all the above reasons, being part of rendering service to the community or one’s family is a boost for one’s morale and self-confidence during a depressing time.

I am preretired and have been for more than 30 years. So no problem. In Demark you get more than enough from.that.

Yes, this is exactly what I am seeing around me. I work for a small company and 3 somewhat lax employees were wither laid off or quit due to lack of business. I have had to take on all 3 of their jobs because the managers don’t know what to do. I have been coaching the managers. They have been reluctant to listen but now they are falling in line. I have done this for the past 3 months without a raise in pay. Now finally when I have taken on yet another task at work, one of my managers encouraged me to ask for a pay raise. I finally got it.
But, this is what most companies are facing.

This is what I figured out for myself throughout my ‘work life’ in various capacities, various countries. And taught to our daughter from when she had her first summer jobs, then apprenticeships, then a career; and is now a business woman hiring…and letting some go because they dont display those very qualities. Not because they haven’t the skills for the job.
I would add: not ‘on time’, early! Always. And tidy. And put aside nattering about personal life ups and downs (‘downs’ in particular).
All this contributes to maintaining a positive professional environment. Benefiting everyone!

Still waiting for them to revoke the V mandates where I live. Until then I’ll be learning to garden.

Some time ago I recall Almine saying “Work is an opportunity to refine the self”… or words to that effect. This has been a great inspiration to me, always, but especially when I have felt discouraged or overwhelmed with work or the seeming ‘need’ to work… Gratitude and reverence to Almine, AND the opportunities the Infinite provides on this truly remarkable adventure..
