From The Seer:
According to happypreppers.com, the cheapest food supply prices in the country are through the Mormon church. All good supplies are examined for nutritional quality by the scientists at BYU university. The best site I’ve discovered to be (including availability) is Providentliving.org.

In the many regions of several countries where I have lived, the cheapest seasonal food is to be bargained for at the end of the market: open market, indoor market, farmers market, ‘Halles’. Wander through, note the price per crate, come back when the stalls are packing up their vans to go home.
Back in your kitchen, be sure you have already prepared your jars, always with new rubber seals, ready for a few hours preserving session. Using whatever sterilising method you prefer. OR blanch the fruit or veg, vacuum seal if you are so eqipped or freezer bags. OR jam, marmalade, sauce/purée, apple ‘butter’, pâte de fruits. OR lacto-fermented like sauerkraut, piccalilli and such.
Efficiency in this is only gained through experience. Best to be two friends with a hearty sense of humour 🌞 Bon Happytite!
